Kropyvnytskyi Pre-trial Detention Centre

The state institution “Kropyvnytskyi Pre-trial Detention Centre” is located in the city of Kropyvnytskyi and is one of the oldest pre-trial detention facilities in the region.

The institution was founded in approximately 1907. Due to the significant historical period of its existence, some archival materials have not been preserved; therefore, information regarding certain stages of the detention centre's activities is limited.

Throughout various historical periods, the institution functioned under different names. Specifically, it was known as the Prison of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kirovohrad Region, the Institution of the Internal Affairs Administration of the Kirovohrad Region, and the Pre-trial Detention Centre of the State Department of Ukraine for the Execution of Punishments in the Kirovohrad Region.

For many years, the pre-trial detention centre has ensured the fulfilment of tasks related to the detention of persons subject to preventive measures in the form of custody, as well as persons sentenced to punishments the execution of which is assigned to institutions of this type.

Throughout the years, the institution has been headed by: M. R. Khramchenko; G. I. Suchkov; I. A. Burlak; A. V. Osaulenko; V. M. Babich; V. M. Holubovskyi; M. V. Tiura; S. I. Botuzov.

Today, the Kropyvnytskyi Pre-trial Detention Centre continues to perform its assigned functions as part of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine and ensures proper conditions for the detention of persons held in custody.

Currently, the head of the institution is Roman Serhiyovych CHABANENKO.
