Synelnykove Penal Colony (No. 94)
The state institution ‘Synelnykove Penal Colony (No. 94)’ was part of the structure of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine and provided for the execution of sentences in the form of imprisonment in accordance with the requirements of the penal enforcement legislation of Ukraine.
The institution was located in the Dnipropetrovsk region and functioned for a long time as a penal colony for holding male convicts.
The colony carried out measures for employment, professional training, and socio-educational work aimed at the resocialisation of convicts. Due to a significant deterioration in the security situation and in order to ensure the life and health of the persons serving sentences, an evacuation of convicts to other institutions of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine was carried out in 2025.
Relevant measures were carried out within the framework of decisions aimed at guaranteeing the safety of convicts and staff of the institution under the conditions of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
After the evacuation of the convicts, the state institution ‘Synelnykove Penal Colony (No. 94)’ effectively ceased performing functions regarding the detention of convicts.
The future fate of the property complex and the prospects for resuming the institution’s activities will be determined by decisions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the security situation in the region.
Thus, the state institution ‘Synelnykove Penal Colony (No. 94)’ belongs to the institutions of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine from which convicts were evacuated in 2025 in connection with the need to ensure their safety.
