Two prisoners have died in a correctional colony in the Rivne region
In the Rivne region, two prisoners died in the Katerynivka correctional colony—one from a heart attack, and the other committed suicide. Rostyslav Dzhahangirov, who was serving a sentence for intentional murder, was in his cell when he suffered a heart attack.
This was reported to a ZAXID.NET correspondent by Oleksandr Adamets, the head of the Department for the Execution of Sentences in the Rivne region. “They called an ambulance immediately. The prisoner was taken to the Sarny District Hospital, but doctors in intensive care could not save the man. According to the doctors’ preliminary findings, he had a chronic heart condition and acute cardiovascular failure,” said O. Adamets.
Another prisoner died in the same colony. Yevheniy Lytvyn hanged himself. “This man had just been working in the bathhouse building; he used a rope and hanged himself on a pipe. There were no signs of violent death, and we do not know the reasons,” recounted O. Adamets.
He also noted that ten years ago, Yevheniy Lytvyn had stabbed his wife in front of his own child. For this, he received 13 years of imprisonment. In prison, the man wrote letters to his relatives, but no one wrote back to him. Oleksandr Adamets presumes that this fact may have psychologically affected the prisoner. Based on the results of the medical examination, law enforcement officers will decide whether there are grounds for an investigation into these two deaths.
