Are special units continuing to beat convicts?

For over a week, alarming events have been taking place in the Bryanka Penal Colony No. 11 (Luhansk Region).
According to available information, conflicts between certain prisoners and the administration have inflamed the situation in the colony. According to unverified reports, special units were brought into the colony on 30 and 31 March. Their personnel beat the prisoners. There are reports that on 31 March and 1 April, two convicts were found hanged in the colony.
On 7 April, convicts N. Roman and L. Denis were beaten (the full names are known to the editorial board of the portal). The human rights organisation ‘Donetsk Memorial’ has appealed to the management of the department and to the Prosecutor General’s Office with an urgent request to conduct a thorough and objective investigation into the reports received regarding the cruel treatment of convicts in Bryanka Penal Colony No. 11.
