Druzheliubivskyi Correctional Centre (No. 1)
The State Institution “Druzheliubivskyi Correctional Centre (No. 1)” was part of the structure of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine and ensured the enforcement of sentences in the form of restriction of liberty in accordance with the requirements of the criminal-executive legislation of Ukraine.
The institution was located in the Zaporizhzhia region and belonged to the network of open-type correctional centres, in which persons sentenced to restriction of liberty served their sentences. The main tasks of the institution were to ensure proper conditions for the detention of convicts, the organisation of their labour, vocational training, and social and educational work. Following the start of the full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the rapid deterioration of the security situation in the region, it became necessary to take urgent measures to ensure the safety of convicts and the staff of the institution.
In 2022, convicts were evacuated from the State Institution “Druzheliubivskyi Correctional Centre (No. 1)” to other institutions of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine. Evacuation measures were carried out with the aim of protecting the life and health of persons serving sentences under the conditions of martial law and the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
After the evacuation of the convicts, the institution effectively ceased performing functions related to the detention of persons sentenced to restriction of liberty.
Further operation of the institution and the prospects for using its property complex depend on the security situation and the decisions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
Thus, the State Institution “Druzheliubivskyi Correctional Centre (No. 1)” belongs to the institutions of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine from which, in 2022, convicts were evacuated in connection with hostilities and the need to ensure their safety.
